Duff Miller Sixth Form College
Situated in the heart of prestigious South Kensington, Duff Miller is one of London’s leading independent sixth form colleges for both day and boarding students. Founded in 1952, we have established a proud tradition of helping students reach their academic potential and secure places at leading universities in the UK and abroad.
In an informal yet supportive atmosphere, we provide structured GCSE and A-Level tuition based on the demands of the exams and closely tailored to the specific needs of the individual. Our aim is to create an environment that inspires our students and gives them the confidence and enthusiasm to achieve the highest possible exam results.
“When I walked into Duff Miller and saw the honours list and the incredible exam results, I thought that could be me if I worked hard. I learnt to be confident that I had been taught everything I needed to know so I could then focus on applying that knowledge in exams.” Catarina Barros - A*A*AA
Mature Approach to Education
We provide a unique academic environment where students are treated as independent young adults, who are made responsible for their studies in preparation for a university approach to learning. Support is always available; our staffroom has an open-door policy and our tutors are on hand to answer questions or provide guidance and reassurance when needed.
All our tutors are highly experienced specialists in the subjects they teach, with more than 50% having graduated from a top 10 university. With an average class size of 8, our small, focused classes encourage students to engage in interactive lessons that allow classroom time to be adaptive and responsive to individual performance. Exam technique is honed through weekly exam practice with comprehensive feedback provided for continuous improvement.
Expert University Advice
Our students’ ultimate aim is to gain entrance to leading universities and develop rewarding careers. We encourage this ambition and work to help students understand the opportunities available for university progression. Each student receives one¬-to¬-one advice on their application and for those who wish to study medicine or dentistry, we run a specialist medical programme to guide students through the demanding application process. Our students are ambitious and continue to secure places on the most recognised degrees at the most prestigious institutions. In 2015, 83% of our students progressed to Russell Group universities, top 20 ranked institutions or medical schools; 40% progressed to the UK’s top 15 ranked universities and degrees, and 61% progressed to world-ranked institutions.
Our student residences, Princess Beatrice House and Pure Hammersmith, offer an unrivalled boarding experience in exclusive and convenient London locations. Our House Parents live on site providing 24-hour supervision seven days a week for students’ welfare and safety. There is a wide range of additional activities and events on offer. All rooms are spacious, modern and light with en-suite bathrooms and a kitchenette.
